Northside Recap – WTSC took on some of the best competition in the state over the weekend at our last invitational of the season, the Northside Invitational. Our swimmers turned in plenty of highlights against this stacked field and the swimmers below earned special shout outs for their accomplishments. First, welcome to WTSC to Chloe McCue who swam in her first meet as a member of our team. And congratulations to Porter Shelbourne (50 & 100 Freestyle) and Cecelia VanderHaeghen (50 & 100 Freestyle) who made the first Divisional cuts of their careers in their respective events. And the following WTSC swimmers made new Divisional cuts in their respective events: Ruby Chesebrough (200 Backstroke), Amos Groothuis (200 IM), Brody Guerrettaz (50 Breaststroke), Brooks Klene (50 Backstroke; 200 IM), Hayden Rodgers (200 IM), Jackson Rodgers (50 Freestyle) and Denison Stone (100 Backstroke). An updated Honor Roll has been posted online and at the pool with these highlights and many more. Check it out and way to go WTSC!
Congratulations – The IHSAA girls swimming season concluded over the weekend with the IHSAA State Finals and WTSC was well represented at the meet. Katie Countryman, Sarah McPherson, Kayley Spicer, Lillian Tabor and Annie Wolfe competed in multiple events at State by virtue of winning events at the Sectional meet. Lillian made the first Speedo Sectional cut of her career with her Sectional win in the 100 Backstroke. Katie made a new Speedo Sectional cut with her Sectional win in the 200 Freestyle. And Annie made a new Senior State cut in the 100 Freestyle. Congratulations to all WTSC Senior girls on a great high school season and good luck to our boys swimmers who are in action this weekend and next at Sectionals and State.
PIKE Last Chance Invitational – Our final “regular season” competitive opportunity will be the PIKE Last Chance Invitational (Sunday, March 2 @ Pike HS). This event is intended to be a “last chance” opportunity for swimmers to make Divisional cuts or a final racing opportunity for swimmers without Divisional cuts. This event is open to any Senior, Gold, Silver or Bronze swimmers who meet the above criteria. Our in-house commitment deadline for this event is Friday, February 21. A schedule and order of events has been posted to the event page on our website and additional information will be available closer to the event. Please speak with your group coach if you have any questions.
