Championship Season Racing Guide- A step by step guide
For Championship meets, it is an honor for you to compete for TEAM WTSC if you have qualified for that meet. As such, if you have acheived Age Group State Time Standards, then you will be automatically entered for the Age Group State meet to represent WTSC in its final 14 and under championship meet. Lists of athletes that have in fact qualified for the meet will be posted in the Meet section to help provide information closer to the date of the meet. The Divisional Championships (all age groups), Age Group State Meet (14 and unders) and the Senior State Meet (15 and overs) follow this format.
These are structured to give swimmers performance goals. First you try to qualify for Divisionals, which is a meet for all age groups. If you are 14 and under and have already qualified for Divisionals, your next goal is to shoot for Age Group State. Similarly, if you are 15 and over and have already achieved Divisional cuts, the next step is to aim for Senior State. After Senior State, senior level swimmers have a network of regional and national meets to aim for.
If for some reason you believe you are not able to compete on a given day or at a given meet, it is extremely important that you notify your group coach well in advance. This happens only in extreme circumstances. Typically we have over 95% participation rates for these meets. Of course, this is all made easier if you familiarize yourself with the meet schedule, each meet’s qualifying times, and your swimmer’s best times. In the Meets and Events section, each competition will have greater detailed instructions. As always, please consult the coaching staff should you have any questions.
Specifically for this season, the calendar shows the following meets in order:
