WTSC NewsWave- Schedule changes and Groundhog Invite details

WTSC NewsWave January 15th

1. Deadlines

  • Volunteer sign up for our own Groundhog Invite is January 19. More details on this below.
  • Swimmer sign up for the Northside Invite is January 30th.  The Northside Invite is a closed invite with WTSC, CSC, and SSC. Friday night's traditional distance events are at NC, while the remainder of the meet is at Carmel High School. Please be clear in the comment box which days you want to swim. An empty comment box indicates your commitment for all 3 days.

2. Schedule updates

  • Thank you for your patience through last week's winter storm and accompanying school closings. The ripples of that week are still affecting us as there have been some high school meet schedule changes which impact our training times.
  • Practice tonight is as normal for Wednesday night.
  • Originally the calendar indicated no practice this Thursday (tomorrow) due to a home HS meet. That meet has been reschedule to next Thursday, January 23rd. Practice is ON for this Thursday PM and OFF for next Thursday.

3. News & More details

  • Groundhog Invite is next weekend, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Yes, NC is also host to home high school meet on Saturday. Here is how the schedule will look:
    • Friday PM- Groundhog Invite, all ages compete, distance events
    • Saturday AM- Groundhog Invite,  all ages compete, anticipated end time is 11:30AM
    • Saturday 1PM- Home High School meet starts
    • Sunday AM- Groundhog Invite all ages compete
    • Note there is NO SATURDAY OR SUNDAY PM GROUNDHOG SESSIONS.
  • Volunteer details: as is standard with all our invites and also detailed in your registration, all families on the team, including our families with Senior/HS aged swimmers, are required to sign up for meet positions. Given the busy time of year and high school swimming schedule, we have dramatically decreased the number of required shifts from our typical 3 per swimmer/5 max per family.
    • Families with one swimmer on the team are asked to sign up for one shift.
    • Families with two or more swimmers on the team are asked to sign up for two shifts.
    • Please note all age groups are swimming in each of the three sessions.
    • As always, it is appreciated if anyone is able to sign up for an extra shift.
    • You will find the sign-up underneath the "Events" section of the main page of the website. We are in need of training new announcers and computer operators. Please let Ann Papachronis know if you are interested in either- [email protected]
    • Failure to sign up for volunteer shifts will result in a fine per the registration materials.
