Week 2 Starts!!

Welcome Back WTSC- Spring/Summer 2013

As this is the kickoff of a new season, we’ll depart from our normal format.

Helpful Items:

Training Calendar for April & May-  we are awaiting the summer school schedule to be released which may or may not affect our June & July training times, however we anticipate our training times to be the same as last summer, which means a continuation of the our regular school year training times for all 14 and under training groups. The exception to this is the Senior training group, which we anticipate to be 6 to 8:30AM and 4 to 6PM Monday through Friday. For this week, please note no Saturday practice.

As we are starting a new season, some swimmers will be changing training groups over the next few weeks.  Any changes will be communicated by your group coach in person and by email. Questions should be directed to your group coach or Head Age Group Coach Dennis Davis. Our move up criteria is dedicated by the Group Progression Structure that is also available on our website.

Meet Schedule- please make special note of a few things; 1) the sign up deadline for our mid-May invites are right around the corner (April 22) for both the Carmel Invite  and the Boilermaker Invite  2) our summer team travel meet is a bit earlier this year, however we are headed back to Chicago & 3) our own summer invite is June 14th to 16th. This is a new meet for WTSC and we are thrilled to host this meet for some of the fastest competition in the Midwest. This is your only volunteer requirement of the summer season.

Safety- the NC school admins have asked that all sports and after school activities review their drop off/pick up/ mid-practice procedures. As this relates to WTSC, we ask that you drop off your swimmers no more than 15 to 20 minutes before practice, make sure to pick up within 15 minutes after, and that all siblings remain in the pool area during practice. We are to have no lingering foot traffic in the hallways outside or around the pool area. Also, the only acceptable place for swimmers to wait for pick up after practice is either in the immediate entrance area below door #24 or in the glass window hallway directly behind the locker rooms. The parking lot and sidewalk area is strictly off limits except for immediate drop off and pick up.

WTSC 6th Annual Golf Outing- this is simply a great time for our parents, alumni and friends. Monday June, 3rd at Meridian Hills Country Club. Full details here.

Club Leadership & Annual Meeting- WTSC’s Annual Meeting is set for May 7th at 5:45PM. This meeting is notable in that its primary purpose is to secure a succession of leadership on the board according to our bylaws. Yes, we are looking for new board members!! Those interested in supporting our great organization via Board of Director service should contact current WTSC Board President Sandy Roob or Head Coach Matt Papachronis.

Code of Conduct- Code of Conduct: As required by USA Swimming, the WTSC Board of Directors has adopted a Code of Conduct for swimmers. In the fall all swimmers and parents will be asked to sign the code as part of the registration packet. In the meantime, the code will be posted on the WTSC website: www.wtscswim.org(under the Parent Info tab after you sign in) and on the bulletin board at the pool. This document, along with USA Swimming's Code of Conduct, includes guidelines to insure appropriate behavior as an athlete & swim parent when representing the club. We ask that you take a minute to read the documents.

Heads up!! WTSC will be upgrading our look!! This will consist of two parts:

1. WTSC will be going with a required Team Uniform starting in the fall season. This team uniform will consist of team suit, team t-shirt(s), and team cap- and applies only to meets and other team events away from NCHS.

2. Starting in the next week or two, we will revamp our Spirit Wear (optional/extra gear) section and offerings for both swimmers and parents.

Thanks & Go WTSC!
