1. Anderson Invite is this weekend!

  • No Practice this Friday and Saturday due to this meet.
  • Click here to view the entry list. Several families requested a late entry. We passed that on to the host team, however the meet is large enough in size that they would not take additional athletes. Only swimmers listed on this report are scheduled to compete.
  • Warm up times & event orders here. Please note the following changes that supercede this original document:
    • Morning Warm ups have been moved earlier by 20 minutes to 6:30AM. WTSC will promptly “hit the water” at 6:40, with stretching for 10 minutes prior.
    • Finals warm up will start 1 hour after the conclusion of the afternoon timed finals session, but not before 4:00 P.M. Finals will not start before 5:00 P.M.
    • 10 and under warm up will start immediately after the conclusion of the morning session, but not before 12:00 P.M. Meet starts not before 1:00 P.M.

 

  • Limited events: the 400 free and 200IM are limited to the top 54 swimmers after sign-in; click here to view the psych sheet in these events. Note that swimmers listed in the 55, 56, & 57 range will have a very high chance of swimming still due to no-shows and scratches at the meet, which typically average about 5%.
  • Any delays or cancellations due to weather will be immediately posted on the front page of our team website. Please note this is the ONLY official place for this news other than the host team website, which may or may not be updated with the official report.

  • Good luck this weekend! Have fun and race hard! WTSC will have one pop up tent for shade on the pool grounds for the swimmers, plus one additional tent on deck for coaches and swimmers. Parents please consider bringing additional shade for your own needs (as well as sunscreen & water!)


2. Final non-championship meet of the season-- the WTSC Closed Invite on Friday and Saturday, July 20& 21

  • That's right, it's a Friday PM and Saturday AM meet only. All ages have events on both days.
  • All swimmers will be automatically signed up to compete since this is 1) our final non-champioship/time-standard-required meet of the season and 2) it's a home meet! If you cannot swim at this meet, please indicate otherwise in the comment box in the sign up process for this meet. A few details on this:
    • All Whitecaps will be signed up for Friday PM only.
    • All other groups on the team will be signed up for both Friday and Saturday.
    • Again, if you can not compete at all or wish to add/drop a day of competition, please indicate otherwise in the comment box associated with the sign up process for this meet.
  • Southeastern Swim Club, Lawrence Swim Team, and Zionsville Swim Club will be joining us- this will be a competitive meet!
  • This is your final chance to qualify individual or relay times for the state meet the following weekend.
  • Deadline to make changes to the sign up procedure noted above is a firm July 17.


3. WTSC is co-hosting the state meet this summer- SwimFest Championships July 26 to 29 at North Central High School & IUPUI.

  • For our swimmers, we have a current list of qualified swimmers on the SwimFest meet page. We will update that page quickly after the Anderson Invite to reflect our new qualifiers. Remember that many swimmers will qualify on relays without attaining an individual cut. Relay-only swimmers are a huge part of our team and success at these meets. We will put preliminary relay reports on the website as well after the Anderson Invite.
  • As this is a state meet, swimmers with cuts will be automatically signed up to swim- this is a very special honor to represent TEAM WTSC at the state championships. In the very rare circumstance that you cannot compete, the coaching staff would very much appreciate notice as soon as possible.
  • This is a two-location meet for both swimmers & volunteers; full directions, details, and FAQ's are listed on our team website.
  • For parents, this meet is your only volunteer commitment for the summer season, and we have decreased the workload to 2 shifts per swimmer, maximum of 4 shifts per family. Positions are still available for sign up and can be found by clicking “Job Sign Up” on the SwimFest meet page on our website.
  • The sign up deadline for your volunteer requirement is July 16th at 11:59PM. We very much need your presence at this meet- it is by far our largest event & fundraiser for the summer season. Fines for failure to fulfill this obligation, which was part of your registration material, will be levied on July 17. Please understand that we do not want to fine you, however the meet directors must act quickly to fill open positions, and the team incurs significant expenses in doing so.

4. As the season is quickly coming to an end, please visit the Calendar to find out when your swimmer’s last practice is held. In general, we are swimming into mid-August, with a start up date for the 2012-2013 season the Tuesday after Labor Day, however once we get into August, we start having more pool parties, fun days, and abbreviated training times.
