Welcome Back WTSC!! New Coaches, Meet Deadlines, Party RSVP & More!
WTSC NewsWave April 16th Welcome back everyone!!
Remaining Tryout Dates: April 18th & 19th from 5:30 -7:30 PM. Please spread the word about WTSC to friends & neighbors!!
Today, April 16th is our first day of the spring and summer season.
How does the start of the season work for my returning swimmer??
All swimmers will report to the same group as last season. Over the next few weeks, the coaching staff will be performing an evaluation& organization of all swimmers for move ups to the next potential group and these moves will be clearly communicated to both swimmers and parents alike.
The only exception to this is current 8th graders. Current 8th graders have one of three choices as you prepare for becoming a HS swimmer in the next couple months- until school gets out. Option 1 (preferred by the coaches): you become a full member of the senior team immediately. Option 2: you swim with the seniors in the morning and with the Tsunami group in the evening (next preference) And final Option 3: remain completely with the Tsunami group.
Reasoning for this plan:
Current 8th graders/this coming fall’s incoming freshman are considered full members of the senior team. However, due to the MSDWT school structure, our middle schools do not dismiss until 4PM, which makes it impossible to attend senior PM practice. For this reason, we encourage you to make as many senior practices as possible (remember morning practices) but fully understand the challenge to changing your schedule, carpools, etc. Once school is out, all incoming freshman will only have the option of senior team attendance.
Questions, please contact your group coach or Coach Matt.
Staff Changes
Speaking of group move ups, we are extremely thrilled to announce two new additions to the WTSC coaching staff!!
Former WTSC star and NCHS standout Michael Christy will be taking over as the Breakers coach this season. A bit of background on Michael… first you’ll see his name prominently scattered on our NCHS record board. Michael was an exceptional IM swimmer as well as backstroker and breaststroker in both high school and his fabulous career at the University of Tennessee. An Olympic Trial Qualifier in several events, he joins us fresh out of school, having experience coaching younger swimmers in the summer time at various locations in both Indiana and Tennessee. His talent in the pool is only surpassed by his ability to relate technique, motivation, and training to our young swimmers. Please welcome Michael back to WTSC! ***Note to Breakers*** Michael will be joining us in mid-May. For the next few weeks, long time WTSC veteran coach Tom Jewell will be leading the group until Michael's arrival.
Joining the staff primarily as our Whitecap and Breaker assistant is Lindsey Bradshaw. Currently a middle school teacher in the Hamilton Southeastern School district, as well as the head coach at the Knights of Columbus, Lindsey comes to us from Southeastern Swim Club, where she was the lead coach for their developmental training groups for the past several years. Lindsey directed 5 assistant coaches under her while they prepared 70+ swimmers each season for the next level. We welcome her experience, balanced approach of hard work and fun in relating to younger swimmers, and sharp eye for stroke mechanics.

Meet Schedule
Click here to move to the Spring/Summer 2012 meet schedule page.
Meet sign up deadlines are already fast approaching for our May invites at Carmel and Purdue. Both of these invites have a sign up deadline of April 21. The summer season is much shorter and thus the meet schedule is condensed. These meet represent one quarter of your invite opportunities this spring and summer season.
Information has been posted for all May meets and the first half of June (including our team travel meet to CHICAGO)… go there for full details like session schedules, warm up times, event orders, sign up deadlines, etc.
Social Events
Two social events are now posted on the website! The first is the parent social on April 28th! Please join the Purcell family as they host the WTSC parent crew at their residence. Full details & RSVP by the 26th via the team website. The second social event is WTSC's 5th Annual Golf Outing. This event is again at the beautiful Stoney Creek Course in Noblesville- a great location to play, socialize, and connect with WTSC folks past and present! Like the April parent outing, full details are on the team website.
THANKS & GO WTSC!!!
