Calendar Updates

Tsunami/Crest, Breakers, & Whitecaps- practice is offered Wednesday, Thursday & Saturday at the normally scheduled times. NO practice Friday. Saturday is the final practice for all groups***

Seniors- we are running our normal “double” practices through this Wednesday PM. Starting this Thursday, we will only be offering practice in the morning from 6 to 8:30AM on the following dates: August 4th, 5th, 8th, 9th& 10th.

***FOR ALL GROUPS, WE ARE HAVING A POOL PARTY on Wednesday August 10th from 5:30 to 7:30PM. ALL WTSC swimmers, families, siblings and friends are invited to attend. This will be an OPEN SWIM/PLAY time for all ages. Additionally, light snacks and refreshments will be served.

 

COOL GUEST SPEAKER

This Wednesday, from 5:30 to 6PM, WTSC is proud to offer a Q & A for Breakers, Crest/Tsunami, and Seniors with Olympian Helene Muller Rovnan. Helene was a 14 time NCAA All-American swimmer at University of Nebraska that represented South Africa in the 1996 and 2000 Olympics. A few of her accomplishments include:

  • 1996 Atlanta Olympics: 4th 400 medley relay (freestyle leg)
  • 3rd 200 free & 5th in the 100 free at the 2000 NCAA Championships
  • 2000 Sydney Olympic games: 5th in 100 free, 9th in the 200 free
  • 2001 Champion in the 200 free at US Nationals
  • 2nd in the 100 & 200 free at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester, England

This open Q & A is particularly recommended for our Seniors & Crest/Tsunami group. If you plan to attend, please be seated promptly in the pool area classroom by 5:30PM as our guest has a tight evening schedule and will not be able to stay longer than 6:10PM. Swimmers arriving late will not be able to attend this function.

Age Group State Championships

Congrats to our WTSC swimmers this past weekend at the AGS State Meet at IUPUI. Competing for the team were: Metta Thomas, Mia Papageorge, Mary McPherson, Will Hamilton, Hope Christy, Natalie Marsan, Justin Matei, Caleb Parker, Reagan Roob, Meggie McPherson, Jenny Hayden, Julia Mann, Delaney Isakson, Meena Moorthy, Rob Krahulik,  Payton Isakson & Mary Hamilton

An extra congrats to our swimmers placing in the TOP 16 at the meet:

  •  Rob Krahulik-6 events!
  •  Hope Christy- 2 events
  •  Natalie Marsan-1 event
  • 11-12 girls relays- Reagan Roob, Mia Papageorge, Hope Christy, Natalie Marsan, Mary McPherson.

GOOD LUCK TO OUR SWIMMERS COMPETING AT ZONES THIS WEEKEND! Our Zone meet qualifiers include Rob Krahulik, Natalie Marsan, Hope Christy, Rachel Hayden, Amy Katz, Joe Krahulik & Rob Minturn.

 

UPCOMING DATES

  • WTSC Tryouts-August 30th/31st& September 13th/14th- all 4 dates from 5:30 to 7:30PM
  • Start of the fall/winter season- September 6th(Tuesday after Labor Day)
  • In an effort to involve our swimmers in the process of recruiting new teammates, we are going to hold the 1stAnnual WTSC IPod Shuffle Raffle.  Each swimmer will receive 5 WTSC information cards available at the team party on August 10th.  Feel free to pass these cards to anyone that may be interested in trying out for our team this coming fall.  When the new swimmer attends a tryout, they will turn in the card to the WTSC staff.  The card will then be entered in to a raffle for a new IPod Shuffle.  The WTSC swimmer passing out the card will have a space to write their name on the card to be given credit for encouraging new swimmers to join.
  • Registration material for the upcoming season will be available in all of the following manners:

o   Emailed to you by our tryout dates above

o   Posted on the website

o   Available at our tryouts

o   Please help make our registration process as smooth as possible by turning these in before the start of the season!
